Veseyans U8s took two teams to Barton RFC playing a total of four matches.

Jimmy’s Black V’s consisted of Sam Little, James Dunn, Casey Berry, Ollie Northmore, Ben Mason, Levi Miller and Dan Field

James’ Green V’s were Ben Larner, Harry Baker, Max Linford, Benji Barrett, Dave Smith and William (Barton)

Top try scorer on the day Ben Larner scored 7, with Ollie Northmore, Levi Miller and James Dunn all scoring 5 each. However, all players contributed in both attacking and defensive duties and showed real teamwork throughout.

Benji Barrett and James Dunn proved tenacious in defence and were instrumental in several 7 tag turnovers delivered by the V’s. It was clear that the recent weeks working on spacing and defensive positioning was paying off.

Dave Smith and Harry Baker’s tireless wing play kept Barton at bay and posed a counter attacking threat which lead to several Green’s tries.

Levi Miller’s support running and quick passing helped both him and his team score tries.

Whilst both teams tired in their second game, they gave their all and kept running, tackling and supporting each other to the end.

Overall a great day for the Veseyans with Greens winning their matches 12-8 and 9-8 and the Blacks winning 10-4 and 8-7.
