On a day made for open running rugby Veyseans U10s arrived at Barton ready to play. Although they only had 7 players that did not deter from them producing their best performance of the season and giving the Barton team 2 really competitive games. In the first game the Veys side constantly produced quality rugby by keeping the ball in play, passing through the hands and off loading in the tackle which enabled them to score 4 excellent tries, an hatrick for the ever improving Zac and a superb solo try for Malika. With some excellent tackling and rucking from Luca and Dougie Veys U10s collectively produced their best game of the season so far.

In the second game they continued to play with real vigor and determination and once again their emphasis was on total rugby and but for some excellent defence by the Barton team would have crossed the line on several occasions. As the superior numbers for Barton started to tell and the effort put in by the ‘magnificent 7’ forced them to tire they did not let their heads drop and battled on until the end, tackling and defending as if their lives depended on it.

Over the 2 games the effort, determination and desire to play showed that both collectively and individually they are now evolving rapidly and look forward to the improvement continuing in the coming weeks. Finally, a big thank you to Barton and their coaching team for creating a fantastic atmosphere where every player could express themselves and let rugby be the winner………well done to everyone
