I am hugely proud and delighted to announce that Veseyans Rugby have been shortlisted down to the last 6 in the country for “Mini and Youth section of the year” at the National Rugby awards dinner, which will be held at Twickenham on September 1st.
This is well deserved recognition for the massive effort put in by our coaches, parents, and kids over the last 12 months to launch a mini and junior section which now boasts 180 + children and is very much viewed as an example of good practice by the RFU, and is the envy of many other clubs in the midlands.
Far from resting on our laurels, we are pushing on again this summer, with “Veseyans Rugby” in attendance at 10 different primary school fetes and also the Sutton Community games with an attendance of over 5k people over the 2 day event.
We will also continue to coach in 6 primary schools and 2 secondary schools, with long term deals agreed through until the end of next year. We have also added new equipment and strengthened our junior and senior coaching teams in preparation for next season, along with various ground and clubhouse improvements for the benefit of all.
The seniors commenced pre season training on 27th June in preparation for the first home game of the season against Kidderminster on September 10th (we play Camp Hill away in the cup on the 3rd), whilst the mini and juniors will be starting back at 10.00am on Sunday September 4th.
We will be holding a family day at the club on Saturday 27th August with a barbecue, bouncy castles, face painters, Ice cream van etc.
The seniors will be having an open training session from 11.00 -12.00, and then will be assisting the mini and junior coaches with all age groups for a fun rugby session for the kids from 12.00- 1.00pm ….please come along, the bar will be open all afternoon, and family and friends are all very welcome !!
