In the Veseyans opening game of the 2015 / 2016 reserve league campaign, they came up against a very well organised and physical Bourneville side.

The away team dominated the first half of the game running in 3 tries to set down a firm marker, the V’s did find their way back in to the match towards the end of the half creating a couple of chances but were unable to put anything on the scoreboard with the teams turning around with the score 0 -12.

Bournville came flying out of the blocks at the start of the 2nd half, making the most of a Veseyans error to cross again to make the score 17 nil to themselves, this was the point though when the home side finally woke up, an enforced change due to injury meant that veteran hooker Tony Hayes moved out into the centres and with his first touch of the ball broke through the opposition line to go over in the corner. This was quickly followed by a great surge by Number 8 Matt Dell who again with some strong running inside the opposition 22 went over to get the home side within one score.

Bournville though responded to this with a couple of additional scores of their own to make the game safe, but Matt Dell gave the Veseyans the final word in the game when he stole a line out inside the the opposition 22 and went over for his second score.

Next up for the V’s 2nd XV is an away fixture at Harborne on 19th September kicking off at 3.00pm.
