Veseyans travelled to Woodrush on a Grey windswept afternoon for a top of the table clash. The Visitors made the stronger start camping in the opposition 22, but it took a great counter attack from Centre John Hipkiss who broke clear only to be tackled by the last man the clear out was affected by Skipper Tony Hayes to create clear fast ball and 2nd Row Andy Ryley romped home from 22 yards for the only score of the first half.

The 2nd period started with the home side on top, but the V’s defence held firm and some strong running from young 2nd Row Ben Tatlow created a penalty opportunity which Matt Dell took quickly and went over the line.

The away side were now scenting an opportunity and some great handling from Sam Irvine and Nick Williams put winger Jack Clayton away in the corner. Irvine also padded the lead with a well struck penalty kick. Woodrush however refused to lie down and some great pressure from their backline, put their Full Back over in the corner which was superbly converted from the touch line against the wind.

The V’s galvanised themselves though and again camped themselves in the opposition 22 and the referee awarded a penalty try which was converted for the final score of the game.
