The V’s made the most positive of starts in this home encounter when winger Ed Heritage went over in the corner following a flowing backs move, The away side then found their feet in the game and with some great work of their own from their strong set piece they forced their way over in the corner from a line out.

The V’s then went straight back up the other end of the pitch and following a magnificent catch and side step from veteran Outside Centre Tony Hayes, winger Heritage went over for his second of the game. Yet again though, Old Salts did not take this lightly and again forced their way forward and the Scrum Half made an excellent break from the base of a scrum to go over the line. Just before half time though, the V’s again pressed forward and following yet another backs move Scrum Half Will Cope went over the line again, this lead to the score at the break being 19 – 10.

The away side started the stronger and again utilised their dominance in the pack to score in the corner to reduce the deficit. The V’s however countered again and following a period of pressure Fly Half Adam Titchen narrowly missed a drop goal. The V’s though would not be denied points and when the visitors were forced into some scrambled defence they forced referee Zac Feaunati to award a penalty against them in front of the posts which cope converted. Again though, Salts battled back into the game and created another try of their own with their forward dominance, and levelled the scores at 22 all going into the last 5 minutes of the game. The home side again rallied, and secured the victory following a terrific run and line break from young No8 Courtney Cummings who despite 2 players hanging on to his shirt tails forced his way over in the Corner.
