Midland Reserve League – Division 3, Veseyans 2nd XV – 60 : Dudley Kingswinford Wasps – 7

The home side started strongly in this encounter with a period of concerted pressure applied to the opposition line which was capitalised on when returning Back Row Ben Harris, surged off the back of a scrum and got very close to the line, Scrum Half Den Hemming, spotted a gap and used his pace to cross near the posts. Hemming was at it again moments later when another smart break and off load lead to Fly Half Will Cope crossing the line near the posts also.

The Home side’s domination continued when Cope executed a perfect dummy with the inside centre in midfield and rounded the defence to score. The half was complete when veteran wing Tony Hayes pounced on an opposition mistake on the Half Way line, break a couple of tackles and coast in from 40 yards out.

The second half started in the same vain with Centre Harry Haynes getting on the end of another fine move to touch down in the corner. Credit to DK, they could have given up at this stage, but they didn’t and following a period of pressure from their forward pack, a centre crash ball put them through under the posts. This proved to be their only score of the game and further Tries from Steve Johnson, Adam Titchen, Jordan Reader, Jack Clayton and Will Cope (to complete his hat-trick) finished off a fine performance for the home side who ran out comfortable winners.
