The home team started quickly in this encounter, when from the opening kick off they marched straight down the field and some fine running from wing Will Cheneler led to a score under the posts.
Following this the Veseyans didn’t really let up and further scores from Dan Hemming and Chris Cheney meant that they ran out to a 21 points lead. Credit to Sutton, they didn’t give up and a concerted amount of their own pressure led to a score of their own, this only proved to spur the home team on and another score from John Fellows meant a 28 – 5 lead at the break.
Sutton started the second half the stronger team reducing the arrears by another 5 points, again this caused the home team to increase their efforts and further tries from Adam Tichen, Adam Spinner and a second for Will Cheneler put the score to over 50 points. Sutton didn’t throw the towel in and went right to the end scoring the final points of the game as time ran out.
The game saw several debuts for the home side, with Josh Raby-Gordon, Callum Chapman, Will Cheneler, Joe Smith, Adam Langton and Louie Taylor all playing for the first time at home.
