A young 14 man Veseyans 2nd team took on a very experienced Walsall 2nd team the weekend at home.

The away side started strongly playing down the hill and only some last ditch defending kept them at bay. This however could only last so long and Walsall soon made their superior numbers tell by sucking the home defence in and going round the outside from a set piece scrum.
Walsall used their experience and pressed the home side back at every chance.

The second half was a much tighter affair with the V’s playing with the conditions, they forced Walsall back on many occasions, Jon Fellows kicked a penalty at the start of the half to get the home side on the board. Walsall sealed the game with two more scores, but the V’s kept going right to the end, and Skipper Tony Hayes forced a penalty in the corner, opted for the scrum from which Nathan Spinner sent over a pin point perfect Cross Field kick which Full Back Jon Fellows caught and crossed the line for the final score of the game.

Credit to the V’s youngsters, (many of which were this years colts team) they kept battling for the whole game, but were just outgunned by the Walsall side.
