The visitors started fastest in this encounter using their forward pack to score two quick try’s to take a 10 nil lead. The V’s soon came back into the game, when Veteran Skipper Tony Hayes took a quick tap penalty and crashed through two defenders to score under the posts which Full Back Jon Fellows converted. The home side hit the front when Scrum Half Chris Cheney broke through from the base of a ruck, offloaded to Centre Adam Titchen to cross the line.
The V’s scored again when Debutant Centre Andrew Tovey waltzed his way through the Old Hales defence to make the Half Time score 21 – 10.
Now playing down the hill, the Veseyans side pressed home their advantage, a break from Fly Half James Mason led to another score for Titchen. Centre Tovey then went on another mazey run, this time setting up Jon Fellows to add to the score. The forwards not to be outdone, then scored one of their own, when Alex Godson nailed a pin point throw at a line out, Back Row forward Pat Clark forced his way over.
Big Credit to Old Halesonians who did not give up at all during the game and had the final say, as they made there way close to the line and forced a penalty try for the final score of the game.
