Veseyans come from behind to beat Harborne in a very close encounter at the memorial ground. The visitors started the strongest with two early scores, both coming from great interplay in the centres.

V’s galvanised themselves and winger Jack Clayton went over in the corner to narrow the deficit. Harborne then hit back with two more scores to go 20 points to five up before the home side rallied again and following some great pressure Tony Hayes crashed over the line from a tap penalty for his 10th try of the season, which was duly converted by Adam Spinner making the half time score 12 – 20.

The second half was a different matter, following some words of wisdom from manager Mark Hume the home side came out charging and following a blind side break and chip through by elusive scrum half Owain Luckwell, Winger Clayton chased through picked up and dropped over the line for another converted score. Harborne refused to lie down and threw everthing at the V’s defence, but the forward pack marshalled by Oz Horrocks held them at bay and really started to dominate the scrum.

The match remained tight until the end and it looked likely that it would end in defeat, but an inspirational last play of the game, resulted in Clayton going over in the corner to complete the come back and a remarkable 24 points to 20 win. Big performances today from some of the younger lads stepping up, Ben Tatlow, Eliott Newell, Guy Merrington and Courtney Cummings the only downside was an injury to stallwart back rower Mike Dell.
