Veseyans took on the division one side, Evesham in the North Midlands Shield.  After a delayed start, the first score of the match came from Calvin after a great offload from Courtney.  Evesham responded strongly and scored a converted try.  The colts continued to play well throughout the first half and a big run from Courtney resulted in a try to make the half time score 10-7 to Veseyans.

Playing up the hill, Evesham started the second half well, scoring a converted try within the first five minutes.  Courtney then intercepted a short Evesham pass on their 22 and ran in from there to get his second try of the match.  The game continued to swing forwards and backwards and Evesham came back to score their second converted try of the half.  The final quarter was played mostly in their half, our line outs were consistently strong and the backs moves were looking sharp.  Some quick thinking from Guy saw Veseyans score a tap penalty from five metres out, 20-19 to Veseyans with 15 minutes to go.

We continued to pressurise the visitors in their own half but a break in our defensive line saw their target man run home from inside his own 22.  The game finished at 26-20 to Evesham.  A fantastic performance from the boys against a side two divisions above but a disappointing result nonetheless.
