Veseyans Rugby failed to build on last weeks win against Old Yards, as they were well beaten by a Shrewsbury side without a win prior to the fixture.
Early mistakes from Veseyans gave Shrewsbury a stranglehold on the early exchanges and this was to be the theme of the day as the V’s had very little possession or territory.
The one bright spot of the afternoon came from young winger, Jon Fellows, who’s mazy run took him past 5 Shrewsbury defenders and over the line in the first half, at which point the score was 7-7. But this was to be the only piece of exciting play the V’s could manage in a game they will be extremely disappointed with.
As is said so often, the beauty of our sport is there is now an opportunity to redeem ourselves next week, and this will surely be the theme of the week for the V’s. Saturdays opponents are Stafford, who travel to the Memorial Ground on the back of a good win against Stourbridge Lions.
