Veseyans rugby suffered a humbling defeat at the hands of a very strong, very organised Moseley Oak side at Billesley Common on Saturday afternoon.

Despite starting well and having the opportunity to put first points on the board, Tom Cooper’s long range penalty bounced back off the post and this was the closest Veseyans got to scoring for the remainder of the game.

A large, powerful Moseley Oak side maintained possession extremely well, with their fly half kicking flawlessly at posts.

Periods of resolute defence from Veseyans were broken down through sheer attrition, and despite a continuous effort and never ending tackling from all the players, Moseley Oak were simply too strong.

With a week off from league fixtures this week, Veseyans will be looking forward to the return of some players from injury, while they await the fall out of new injuries picked up on Saturday. The next fixture in the league is away at Old Salts on Saturday 24th October, where the V’s will look to get back on track in whats promises to be another tough fixture in M2W(N).
