With an earlier Kick off time and a long bus journey the boys reached a delightfully scenic Ludlow
ground with less time than usual for warm up, however this did not show. From the off the Veseyans
looked in control and this was to be the tone for the majority of the game, apart from one earlier
laps in concentration that saw Ludlow crossing the try line first.

Consequently Veseyans buckled down and after some continual pressure full back Tom Greenwood
crossed over for what would be his first 5 points of the game, to which he slotted the conversion. V’s
then really took charge and after another three points from the boot of Greenwood, winger Matt
Gillick touched down with a fantastic individual try make the score 17-7 half time.

The second half continued on the same note as the first with V’s dominating with ball in hand. A
scrum around the half way line saw the fat, balding No8 Robert Lenderyou pick up and feed the ever
formidable Owain ‘the rocket’ Luckwell, who as we’ve seen many times this season, skipped around
three or four defenders showing strength, agility, composure and maturity, before plopping down
over the line, 24-7.

Some strong carries from Ludlow’s rather large number two saw them enjoy a period of possession,
which ended with a try, keeping them in the game. With 5 minutes to go Veseyans played smart and
pinned Ludlow back, resulting in Ludlow conceding a kickable penalty to which Greenwood slotted
comfortably for his 17 point of the match.

Final Score: Ludlow 17 – Veseyans 27
