The away side made the best start with Centre Tom Greenwood going over for the opening score in the first few minutes swiftly followed by prop Reiss Taylor who crashed through 3 tackles to go over from a tap penalty. Lichfield rallied and following a period of pressure crossed the line to reduce the score.
Just before half time a sweeping move involving the whole V’s back line saw Winger Tony Hayes beat his opposite number to go over in the corner. The second half was a different matter with Lichfield taking the upper hand going over for two tries and a kicked penalty to give themselves the lead.
This only caused the visitors to raise their game and following a quickly taken penalty the V’s backline again moved the ball through the hands with skipper Tony Hayes going over for his 2nd try. Following more pressure a smartly executed set piece move sent Ryan Brunsden under the posts and with the conversion added by Adam Ward this put the V’s eleven puts clear, so despite a late rally and score by Lichield the Veseyans side held on for victory.
