North Midlands Colts League – Division 3
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon Veseyans Colts put in a much better performance again a much bigger Trentham side.
The Veseyans side included eight new players coming up into the side from the junior ranks two of which really stood out. Tyler Ganderton defended extremely well and at times put his body on the line. Jake Smith proved his worth in the front row and showed he could well be a star of the future.
Veseyans struggled early on to get any structure to their game which wasn’t helped by the opposition deliberately killing the ball and slowing the game down with most of this going unpunished.
Throughout the game the young Veseyans improved in areas which last week were at times great weaknesses. The V’s set piece improved and enabled the backs to play.
However the Veseyans downfall was the amount of missed tackles which provided some easy scores for Trentham.
Veseyans scores were Captain Dan Hemming with two tries, Tom Powell on his Colts debut also scoring with two conversions one from Joe Smith and one from the touch line for Dan Hemming to complete the score line.
Next week Veseyans Play Worcester Wanderers Colts in the 1st round of the Midlands Division of the National Colts Cup.
