What a great turnout we had at Coalville this weekend.

16 of our U9’s braved the cold and put in a spirited and enthusiastic performance against a well organised opposition.

V’s again defended well as a team with some standout tackling from Gurik Sidhu, Tom Howell, Josh Moseley, Noah Millar and Alex Hume.

Everyone’s passing improved as the games wore on and hands warmed up, and there was some lovely off-loading out of the tackle to keep the ball alive.

Luke Byrne and Aiden Millard were, as ever, in the thick of the action going forward, and there were some scything attacking runs from Tom, Noah, Archie Strachan and in particular Harry Gwilliam.

Our trademark power runners Matthew Boland and Charlie Francis put in some storming runs, always taking 2 or 3 of the opposition with them, and Charlie finished one run off very well with a great try.

Coalville’s greater experience showed in their attacking intent, and their excellent defence limited our scoring opportunities this week, however, Archie, Josh and Gurik also managed to cross for excellent, well worked tries.

The games were played in great spirit from both sides, with smiles all round.
It was fantastic to see how the U9’s are improving week on week, well done to everyone and a big thanks also to the parents for their excellent support.
