This weekend saw action in the RFU Intermediate Cup second round. Veseyans looked to mix up their side following a disappointing result in the league last week away at Old Salts.
Despite the changes, this week’s performance was plagued by a number of the same issues as last week. Despite a bright start which saw the return of winger Matt Gillick dazzling feet, Veseyans missed the opportunity to take an early lead and then conceded the first points following a series of errors. The home side then got on a roll with their fly half and inside centre being allowed far too much freedom to play. Two quick scores followed and Veseyans looked defeated. Half Time score of 21-0.
As has been the case so often this year, Veseyans came back and showed some belief in the second half, but despite scores from Matt Dell, Alex Morgan and Rob Watts it was too little too late. Coalville sealed the win with a final try as Veseyans chased the game.
