The V’s made the trip down the M5 to Bromsgrove on a fine sunny Saturday afternoon, and immediately seized control from the opening kick-off, just a few minutes in, centre Joe Williams threw a very smart dummy which took out 2 defenders and gave him free passage to run into the corner for the opening score. The away side were dominating in the scrum, so when the home side conceded a penalty 5 metres out under their own posts , skipper Tony Hayes took the brave decision to call the scrum and some quick hands at the base sent Wing Adam Titchen over on the corner. The V’s then put together the best move of the game with some strong rucking from the forwards, number 8, Courtney Cummings broke free and wend down the line to offload to Full Back Jon Fellows to score in the corner. From the following kick-off the V’s pressed forward again and Centre Williams cut another great line to go in under the posts. Chris Cheney added the extras to make the score 0 – 22 at half time.

Bromsgrove came out renewed in the second half and following a period of forward dominance, they mounted a period of intense pressure following a line out and forced their way over in the corner which was expertly converted from the touch line. The V’s recovered their poise and returned to the opposition half and following a break from Back Row Rob Russell, Adam Titchen crash over from short range for his second try which was converted by Tom Greenwood.

This proved to be the final score of the game as the away side ran out comfortable winners.
