Following the late cancellation of last weekends league fixture, the Veseyans 2nd XV entertained Woodrush in a Friendly Match.
Right from the off when skipper Tony Hayes won the toss and decided to play in the favoured up the hill direction in the first half the home side bossed the game.
2nd Row Chris Whitehouse, in his “alleged” 50th Cap for the club, made an outstanding break allowing Back Row Lewis Gaffney through for the opening score of the game, this was soon followed by a score by Whitehouse himself.
The Backs were soon into the game when debutant Centre Charlie Mayou went through himself with some dazzling footwork.
The V’s dominated the remainder of the half and went in at the break 19 nil up.
The second period was much of the same, Full Back John Fellows added two tries of his own, Gaffney returned a kick off the length of the field for a score brushing off several defenders.
Youngster Tom Powell scored his first try in Senior Rugby getting on the end of some fine interplay between forwards and backs.
The crowning moment of the match came late in the second half, when veteran Neil “Moose” Lindford came off the bench to burst through the Woodrush defence on the halfway line to race through for a score.
Adam Titchen rounded off the scoring late in the game with a try which he converted himself.
Scrum Half Will Cope also added 5 Conversions.
