The home side playing down the hill made the faster start in this one. Skipper Tony Hayes, rejected the chance of 3 easy points when given a penalty close to the line, and opted for the scrum. A fine set piece move by Scrum Half Dan Hemming and Fly Half Will Cope, sent the latter scything through the defence to score under the posts.
Luctonians came straight back into to the game, and some outstanding pace from their 13 as he went round the outside of the V’s back line to score.
V’s came back again, and again it was cope, chasing down his own kick to score in the corner.
Back Rower, Josh Raby-Gordon got in on the scoring when he pounced on a loose ball following a scrum won against the head to crash over from Short Range and fellow forward Jack Evans also crossed the line.
In the second half Luctonians started the quicker to reduce the arrears, but again the V’s came storming back, following a monster clearout from Mark “The Shark” – Cope was on hand to again cross the line under the posts to complete his hat trick.
Youngster Ryan Prestridge showed his pace on the wing to go over the line in the corner, to complete the scoring for the home side.
Credit to Luctonians who did not stop playing and more pace from their centre and fullback brought them back in to the game, but ended up in vain as Veseyans ran out winners by two clear scores.
