Another tough day at the office against a very organised and fit Bournville team. The game started poorly for the visitors who conceded a try in the first minute. Whilst the score was 20:0 at half time it did not reflect the defensive intent showed by the visitors. Bournville were made to work hard for their scores. The Veseyan set piece remained strong with debutants Rob Smith and James Oakley in the second row generating power in the scrums that saw this aspect of the game being dominated.
The second half was more keenly contested with Veseyans exerting pressure on the home teams line. Two break away tries made the score more flattering for the home team.
The game also saw the debut for Tom Cooper another from the growing band of colts making the move into senior rugby. Tom made some telling breaks and a large number of tackles against vastly more experienced opposition.
